Since December, the Albany International Airport has been offering covid testing to all travellers and staff at the airport.
The test, called the Clarifi COVID-19 Test Kit, was co-developed by Quadrant Biosciences and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and has been used to test over a half million students and faculty at SUNY colleges to date. The saliva-based test is self-administered, and will assist travellers in complying with New York State’s COVID travel testing requirements. The Clarifi COVID-19 Test Kit provides results in 48-72 hours.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) claims air travel can increase individuals’ chances of being exposed to the coronavirus, due to close contact and frequently touched surfaces. As a result, they recommend passengers get tested one to three days before a flight, as well as three to five days after travel.
According to Aviation Pros, “qualified travelers may obtain the self-administered COVID-19 test daily from 7am to 5pm at the Airport’s Information Desk located on the first level of the terminal.” All it takes is a valid government photo ID and proof of travel.
When it comes to expanding our services to New York State, Quadrant is happy to be part of the solution.
“We’re excited to extend the success of our saliva-based COVID-19 testing protocol beyond the SUNY schools to better serve the great people of New York State. Without question, Albany International Airport is on the leading edge of organizations intent on improving the health and safety of their employees and the community of air travelers they serve—we’re proud to be part of the solution,” Rich Uhlig, CEO and Founder of Quadrant Biosciences shared.
Quadrant Biosciences is also a part of pooled testing and wastewater surveillance across New York State. To learn more about our COVID projects, click here.
