The test, called the Clarifi COVID-19 Test Kit, was co-developed by Quadrant Biosciences and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and has been used to test over a half million students and faculty at SUNY colleges to date. The saliva-based test is self-administered, and will assist travellers in complying with New York State’s COVID travel testing requirements. The Clarifi COVID-19 Test Kit provides results in 48-72 hours.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) claims air travel can increase individuals’ chances of being exposed to the coronavirus, due to close contact and frequently touched surfaces. As a result, they recommend passengers get tested one to three days before a flight, as well as three to five days after travel.
According to Aviation Pros, “qualified travelers may obtain the self-administered COVID-19 test daily from 7am to 5pm at the Airport’s Information Desk located on the first level of the terminal.” All it takes is a valid government photo ID and proof of travel.
